day 63 ugh ugh ugh and Erik cut a tree down

Wow, today sucked.
I woke up cold and soaking wet, oh well, I laugh about these things anymore because the real test is how you deal with unfortunate shit.  Laugh when you wanna cry, it sounds insane but it works.

We did t get more than 10 miles in 20 mph  head winds today, it was a fricken struggle to get that far.  Then the weather started.  And as I lay here drenched and cold it's still not over.  At least I'm alive and have food in my stomach.  My toes are freezing and my socks are wet.  My sleeping bag is wet.  My everything is wet.  But my soul is alive after the test Erik and I were put through today.  After pulling over because the wind was literally pushing the boat backwords I checked the weather.   It said tornados possible,  damaging hail and wind,  severe thunderstorms and lightening.  And it was just as they said, short of a tornado.  And the hail wasn't that bad.  Actually the whole thing wasn't that bad.  We just stood on the beach, got soaked, and cut wood with a hatchet all day.  The wind is picking up now which means it's about to get bad again so I gotta go.  Be thankful your indoors.  I'm now jealous of you, and at the same time happy this storm is trying to beat me up.  I wish it could heat me up.

  1. Mark,

This is Joe Harbulak. I'm unsure if you'll read this. If you do, let me know somehow. I want you to know I'm sending out the best of vibes. I spent the past hour and a half reading your posts and imaging what it would be like to be there on the journey. It's like you're the main character of my favorite movie "Easy Rider" and ironically enough, their journey too ended in New Orleans. You of all people have to catch this flick. If you get a second and can watch a video on the internet, check the link I posted below. It's early Jack Nicholson talking about freedom from a scene in the movie, a speech that is always in the back of my mind. I'm living it too brother, but there is no substitute for riding alongside Mother Nature. Everyone has hope the majority of the world is filled with good people and you get to see it first hand. If you ever need a hand with the music, let me know. I have a studio to help if you ever head back. And when your journey ends and you decide to take on another, keep me in mind as a potential companion.

Above all, keep the harmony alive brother. Through rock & roll, Mother Nature and all your interactions with people. Last but not least, raise one up for me if you don't mind, could definitely use the vibe.

    A friend,

    Joe

Rock on dude, your the man. I appreciate 1000% the support, especially because I have very little interaction with the outside world, well, relatively. I know this sounds weird but I was actually thinking about you yesterday and how fun the music video party was last year haha. But ya dude I gotta see that shit I'll check it out after I write this. And ya dude next time I come back through the burgh I'll hit you up and we gotta jam aka rock out n'at.

Appreciate the vibes, I'm at a casino now so I'll get a free one on you.

Little interaction is the way to go man. I'm glad you had a good time at the video shoot and I'm stoked to see your journey is turning out so rad. Easy Rider man. I'm telling you, you're living it brother. If you decide you need to say what's up, don't be afraid to re-reply to this post. Keep the details fresh, I'm due for an adventure.
